Dairy Distillery releases Canada’s first lactose free dairy cream liquor

Packaged in an old-time milk bottle, Vodkow Cream is the first and only spirits bottle to feature the Dairy Farmers of Canada’s iconic Blue Cow logo.

Almonte, Ontario, November 12, 2020: Dairy Distillery pioneered technology to transform unused milk sugar* into sustainable vodka called Vodkow. Its spirit of innovation continues with the launch of Vodkow Cream. Blending fresh Canadian cream with Vodkow vodka created a delicious cream liquor without added flavouring or colour.

“It seemed natural that alcohol made from milk would be a great match with cream, but we were blown away with the result,” says Dairy Distillery founder Omid McDonald.

Whereas most distilleries purchase a cream base to mix with their alcohol, Dairy Distillery invested in the equipment and know-how to make everything that goes into Vodkow Cream. This allowed the distillery to innovate and produce Canada’s first lactose free dairy cream liquor.

The makers of this innovative product are also showing their support for local dairy farmers by using only 100% Canadian milk – Vodkow Cream proudly features the Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) Blue Cow logo on the packaging, the first spirits bottle to do so.

"When consumers buy bottles of Vodkow Cream marked with the iconic Blue Cow logo, they can be confident that it is made with 100%, high-quality Canadian milk, which is produced to some of the most stringent standards in the world," said Pamela Nalewajek, Vice-President, Marketing at DFC.

Vodkow Cream is crafted to be the ultimate expression of a cream liquor. Less sweet than traditional cream liquors, Vodkow Cream’s mouthfeel and taste evoke farm freshness. Its cream colour reflects the simplicity of its ingredients. Vodkow Cream’s old-time milk bottle packaging draws a direct connection to its dairy heritage. Ideally served cold or over ice, Vodkow Cream also mixes well with coffee. The possibilities for cocktails or desserts are endless. Vodkow Cream retails for $29.95 for a 750ml bottle. It can be purchased directly from Dairy Distillery (vodkow.com) or at select LCBOs starting in mid-November.

*After dairy processors remove the fats and proteins from milk, a lactose (milk sugar) rich by-product called milk permeate remains. There are few uses for milk permeate and much of it is discarded. Seeing opportunity in this waste, Dairy Distillery worked with the University of Ottawa to develop technology to transform milk permeate into delicious vodka called Vodkow. Launched in 2018, Vodkow quickly gained popularity thanks to its smooth taste and sustainability. Every bottle of Vodkow saves 3.7kg of milk sugar from being wasted and is Canada’s only carbon neutral vodka.

    Hi
A BIG thank you to you all for this lactose free product. It is awesome. My lactose problem did not present until age 71, another reason I believe the golden years suck! Kidding aside it is so wonderful to have a cream liquor I can enjoy. It is also very important to me to support Canadian made & especially Dairy as I was a member of the office staff at Dairy Farmers of Ontario for many years. I wish you continued success with your business. Merry Christmas & all the best in 2022.
